Outline (1/2020)
- The scene opens up to the picture of a dragon on a bounty poster held by a young boy about 13 or 14 traversing a desolate mountain range. The reward is a large amount of coins.
- The boy finds the dragon, in a small cave within the mountain, but it’s only a babe. The dragon is no more than a month old, and no larger than a young dog.
- At first, the dragon becomes defensive. He growls and crouchs, readying itself for anything. The boy falls backwards in shock, but quickly regains his balance and draws his sword.
- The boy and the dragon have a tense stand off while thunder and lightning can be heard from the opening of the cave. They circle each other. Each of them with grueling expressions. They both produce monstrous sounds that would cause any demonic spirit to flee in fear.
- The boy and the dragon let out a hideous yell and prepare to attack each other when the loud boom of thunder over powers both of their voices. The boy cringes deeply causing him to shut his eyes, dropping his guard. Realizing that he has, he quickly opens them and points the sword back at the dragon, predicting an attack. The dragon however is hiding behind what looks like to be its dead mother.
- The boy observes the deceased beast. Cuts from swords, scars from spear shafts, and punctures from arrows can be seen in the body. The boy is shocked by the damage the mother has sustained till her death. The boy then sees the baby dragon nudging the body still believing that she can still protect him from the booming of the heavens,
- The dragon notices the boy again and begins to walk towards him. The boy raises his sword again, believing that he is coming to attack him. Then he notices that the dragon’s walk is rather impish and fragile.
- As the dragon comes closer, the boy can see the fear and pain in it’s small eyes. The dragon chirps and ignorantly tries to get closer to the boy. The boy is now conflicted on what he should do next. What should I do? It’s a monster, a beast. It kills people. Causes pain and suffering to hundreds of people just like in the stories. Is that what I see here? Is this a monstrous beast? It’s scared, hungry, and alone. There is no one here. No one but me. Can I keep it? Help it? Keep it safe till it’s able to live on its own? When it gets older, it’ll grow stronger, more powerful, more dangerous. Can I teach it not to be? Can I control it? What if I mess up? What if I fail? What will happen to me? What are the consequences? What am I to him, and what is him to me? What do I do? Why am I so afraid?
- The curious creature jumps to the very confused boy. Startled, the boy flinches and uncontrollably reacts to defend himself. - The next scene is the boy collecting money for the bounty. The evening glows bright with light and warmth. The boy leaves the village. He walks for a while. Then heavily drops to his knees on the side of the road. As the shine from the setting sun covers his body, the light from the boy’s eyes drift slowly away as he stays there motionless.
